Terms of Use
The ground rules for using Konvert, written in plain English so you can actually read them.
The short version. Konvert is a free tool offered as is. Use it lawfully, respect creators and the platforms you link to, and don't try to overload it.
Accepting these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Konvert (“we”, “us”), the operator of this website. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Konvert.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the site, and forms part of these terms.
The service
Konvert takes a link to an online video, fetches the video, and extracts its audio track as a file you can download. You can choose MP3 (128, 192 or 320 kbps), M4A, OPUS, WAV or FLAC. Today it works with YouTube links. Support for other platforms is in development.
The service is free, needs no account, and is provided “as is” and “as available”. Converted files are kept only briefly: each one is deleted about 30 minutes after you start the job, so download it straight away. Konvert is not a storage or hosting service.
Your responsibilities and acceptable use
You may only use Konvert to convert content that:
- you own or created yourself;
- is in the public domain;
- is published under a license that allows copying or reuse, such as a suitable Creative Commons license, and you follow that license's conditions (for example, giving credit); or
- you have the rights holder's permission to use in this way.
You must also follow the terms of service of the platform that hosts the video. Some platforms restrict downloading or copying content, even when the content is otherwise available to watch. It's your responsibility to check and respect those rules.
When using Konvert, you agree not to:
- infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights, or distribute converted audio you don't have the right to share;
- try to get around DRM, paywalls, sign-in requirements, age restrictions, regional blocks or any other access control;
- use bots, scripts or other automated or bulk methods to submit conversions, or scrape the site;
- get around our fair-use limits, including the limit of 10 conversions per hour and the maximum video length of 1 hour, for example by rotating IP addresses;
- interfere with, overload or probe the security of the service or the servers it runs on;
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to help anyone else do so.
Copyright complaints and takedown notices
We respect the rights of creators and copyright owners. Konvert doesn't host a library of content: files exist only for the person who requested them and are deleted automatically about 30 minutes after the job starts. The original video stays on the platform that hosts it, so it's usually most effective to send a notice to that platform as well.
If you believe Konvert is being used to infringe your copyright, send a notice through our contact page that includes:
- your name and contact details, including an email address;
- a description of the copyrighted work you believe is being infringed;
- the link to the source video and, if you have one, the Konvert job link involved;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf; and
- your physical or electronic signature.
We review every complete notice and take the action we consider appropriate, which may include removing a file that hasn't expired yet or restricting access for repeat infringers. Knowingly sending a false notice can make you liable for damages.
Availability, limits and changes
We work to keep Konvert running smoothly, but we don't guarantee that it will always be available, fast or error-free. Conversions can fail for reasons outside our control. For example, videos that are private, need a sign-in, are age-restricted, have been removed or are blocked in some regions can't be converted, and playlist or channel links aren't accepted.
- Conversions
- Up to 10 per hour
- Maximum video length
- 1 hour
- Links per job
- One video, no playlists
- File availability
- About 30 minutes after you start
We may change these limits, add or remove features or supported platforms, or pause or stop the service, in whole or in part, at any time. Where we reasonably can, we'll give notice on the site.
Third-party services and links
Konvert depends on third-party platforms to provide the videos you link to, and the site contains links to other websites. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for their content, availability or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.
No affiliation
Konvert is an independent service. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Google, Meta, Facebook, TikTok or any other platform. Their names are used only to describe which links the service works with, and all trademarks belong to their owners.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Konvert is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. That includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that the service or its output will be accurate, uninterrupted or free of errors. We don't guarantee the quality of any converted file, which depends on the source video.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Konvert and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to the greatest of the amount you paid us (which is nothing) and the minimum amount required by applicable law.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Indemnity
If you use Konvert in breach of these terms or of someone else's rights, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) that result, to the extent permitted by law.
Suspension and blocking
We may limit, suspend or block access to Konvert, with or without notice, for anyone we reasonably believe is abusing the service, breaking these terms or putting the service or other people at risk. That includes automated traffic and attempts to get around our limits. The sections on copyright, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law continue to apply after your use ends.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of Konvert is established, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when the service changes. When we do, we'll post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date at the top. If you keep using Konvert after a change, you accept the updated terms.
